Differential & Prop shaft

The diff has been cleaned up and painted.

Finally got the diff in only to find the bolts didn't line up correctly.

The front mounts were to high, I didn't want to cut the chassis mounts and re-weld the threaded lugs so I decided to get the diff mounts machined down.

The diff now sits 5mm lower and the bolts all line up now.

I tried to install the Prop shaft only to find it didn't fit, the gap down the tunnel was 3 inches and the CV joints were 4 inches in diameter.

As you can see the diff flange is wider than the gap between the tunnel tubes.

The rear CV joints - 4 inches in diameter.

The front CV joint - 4 inches in diameter.

I finally worked out that I could take the CV joints apart, however it worked out that it would be easier to remove the front CV joint this meant installing the Prop shaft through the rear and I would need to take the diff out again.

Everything back in and hopefully it doesn't need to come out again.

I got the drive shaft adaptor plates back and they have been zinc plated along with the prop shaft and diff bolts.

Adaptor plates installed.

Ok so I've installed the CV joints and measure the required length of the drive shafts and sent the standard Ford Sierra shafts to MNR to make them longer, they should be back next week.

To be continued....
