Sump Baffle Plate

I purchased a sump baffle plate form Tegiwa Imports oil surge when doing track days.

As I have only as DC Tig welder I have to take the sump to my locale engineering shop for them to weld it in. Know the sump was going to be off for a few days I want prevent dust and dirt getting into the engine. The only thing I could think of doing was to wrap the engine in a black plastic bag, but this wasn't so easy so I just placed the black bag over the bottom of the motor and used the bolts to hold it in place. This seemed to work very well as it sealed the entire sump nicely.

The is how the sump now looks with the baffle plate once welded in, however there was about 1-2 mm gap at the back of the plate which tapped with a hammer to close the gap.

Thankfully I trail fitted the sump prior to applying the liquid sealer as I found the baffle plate was hitting on the side of the oil pump as it wasn't deep enough in the sump so I have to cut a small piece out.

Once this was removed it fitted perfectly, however applying the sealent wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. This is the sealent which I purchased from Tegiwa Imports, Hondabond High Temperature Engine Gasket Sealer.

In the Honda manual they say that you need to fit the part within 4 minutes of applying the sealant, I think I made in the nick of time.

I now need to wait for the sealant to cure and I'll fill her with oil.
